The China Live Warfare Exercise in the South China Sea, which began over the weekend, has received intense attention from Australia. China’s behavior in the South China Sea has brought Southeast Asia to the brink of war.
The United States has already intervened to maintain peace in the South China Sea and ensure free navigation across the sea, but the international community is responding to Beijing’s persistent push to limit its claims. The Australian Navy has decided to send troops to the area due to the tension created by the military exercise in live weapons in China.

A video recording of a series of live weapons exercises conducted by a Navy Air Force division under the People’s Liberation Army (PLA)’s Southern Theater Command circulated in the Chinese media. Meanwhile, China has publicly stated that it will conduct a military exercise to test anti-ship and anti-aircraft capabilities with “powerful ammunition.”
Australia says China has no “legal basis” for territorial and maritime claims, deploying five of its Canberra warships in the area and joining the US and Japanese forces.
Meanwhile, the United States has been engaged in a verbal confrontation with China since Trump came to power in 2016, and it has now escalated into a military confrontation. The Trump administration has pressed for the development of an Australian naval presence in the South China Sea, and the Australian Labor Alliance has called for the use of forthcoming ministerial talks to discuss what the US is doing to defuse tensions with China.
